Sunday in BA- our last full day

Sunday March 24 was a gorgeous day- 24C and sunny.  Our friend Nestor dropped by late morning with a gift for our mutual friend in Toronto.

After he left, we headed out for a long walk to a Sunday craft fair in Plaza Francia near the Recoleta Cemetery.  We took a different route and took some "street pics".  It was Palm Sunday, and people were walking in the street with leaves.  Others were selling them.

We passed a gorgeous bakery with a fabulous lemon meringue pie.  Portenos like their sweets, especially with cream.

We passed some more street art.

We arrived at Plaza Francia, but first went into the beautiful church: Nuestra Senora del Pilar.

We wandered around the street fair.  A few good jewellers, but a lot of the same trinkets.  Mafalda, an icon of BA is very popular.

We decided to stop for a coffee at La Biela under the rubber tree.  There was a tango demonstration that gathered a large crowd by the time we left.  They were very good dancers.

We then stopped for ice cream/sorbet at Un 'Altra Volta.

After our treats, we walked to the Subte and went back to Palermo Hollywood for a stroll back to our neighbourhood of Palermo Soho.    In the subway station, we saw a poster with pictures of some of the "disappeared." March 24, 2013 was the 37th anniversary of the commencement of the last military dictatorship.  We saw a poster later in the day about a demonstration in Plaza de Mayo commemorating the event.

Walking back through Palermo Hollywood, we saw some more street art.

We then stumbled upon a Passover celebration on a main street in Palermo Soho.  Two blocks were closed to traffic and there were a number of displays, food, and music.  The celebration is run by an organization called YOK (stands for Yo OK) a non-profit organization that encourages approaching Judaism  "A Tu Manera"(in your own way).  They organize fairs in Palermo for a number of the major Jewish holidays.  There were a series of posters explaining aspects of the Passover story.

We went back to the apartment to rest up before our last dinner in BA, which we had at La Cabrera.  The beef came with a lot of interesting small dishes. We shared a 1/2 portion along with a green salad.  Very filling!

We got back to the apartment just before midnight.

As I post, we are getting ready to go to the airport for our Monday morning flight to Mendoza.
